Finding Your Own North Star: Claiming The Life You Were Meant to Live

This book by Martha West provided me some wonderful insights.  It helps the reader develop a solid framework for discovering your true self, and explains the psychology behind why our ability is sometimes hindered.   Beck provides real solutions on how to obtain self-awareness and maneuver through what can be the dark waters of change.  I highly recommend this book for people seeking to understand themselves better and looking to make the necessary changes in their life to be fulfilled. Several self-guided exercises lead the way.

B.K.S. IYENGAR YOGA: The Path to Holistic Health

This is a great book for an in depth review, with good pictures, of many of the key yoga postures.  Iyengar goes to great length to describe each posture and how to align yourself in each posture.

Necessary Endings by Dr. Henry Cloud

This book by Dr. Cloud gave me the tools to determine the nature of relationships in my life, both personal and business, for the purpose of diagnosing whether those relationships continue to benefit me.  For those relationships that are no longer productive, Dr. Cloud guides in how to make the proper choices to end the relationship.  The approach he takes to thoughts and feelings about relationships truly gives a way to evaluate people in your life in an unemotional way so you are not paralyzed moving forward.  If you are a manager, supervisor, or anyone who works with people, or if you question the value of some of your relationships, you will appreciate this helpful book.

The Yamas & Niyamas: Exploring Yoga's Ethical Practice

This is a wonderful book to learn more about 2 of the 8 limbs of yoga (yoga asanas (the postures) is 1 of the 8 limbs) - the yamas and niyamas.  The yamas and niyamas are observances and restraints we can choose to live by.

Power Yoga: The Total Strength and Flexibility Workout

Beryl Bender Birch has written a wonderful book that includes pictures of many of the postures with detailed instruction about each posture.  She also includes the benefits of a strong yoga practice.

Living Your Yoga: Finding the Spiritual in Everyday Life

Judith Lasater brings to light the meaning of yoga beyond the poses and breathing techniques and how to include them in the events of your daily life.  She provides practices to guide you in deepening your relationships with yourself and those around you.  It is a great book to read if you'd like to deepen your yoga practice off your mat.
